Godiva Place, Coventry
Speedclad delivered the levels of quality required to do justice to the striking and innovative façade on this new student accommodation scheme, through careful planning, close supply chain relationships and a carefully coordinated and controlled installation.
Godiva Place is a £47.5million student residences within walking distance of the Coventry University campus and provides 772 beds in mixed studio and cluster accommodation units. The development is ranged across 5 blocks from 4 to 9 storeys and includes a social hub and various ancillary support facilities. The design, by Lewis and Hickey, combines a perimeter block to provide a defined street edge and protect the interior of the site, with a series of finger blocks to maximise daylight into and through the site.
In our first contract with Galliford Try, Speedclad carried out the design, supply and installation of the St. Bees sandstone rainscreen cladding and perforated aluminium feature panels. The intricacy of the cogs design across the feature panels demanded careful planning and close liaison with our supply chain, to ensure all elements were produced and delivered in a manner that enabled effective and efficient identification against the design. This in turn enabled the installation to meet both the demanding schedules across all blocks and the quality end result required to do justice to this innovative façade.
