7 & 8 Wellington Place
Speedclad has been the facades contractor for the MEPC developments on Wellington Place in Leeds, across consecutive projects, since 2014. Buildings 7 & 8 on this prestigious business quarter, for Wates Construction, represent the largest of these repeat contracts for Speedclad and has resulted in a stunning flagship scheme.
Having completed facade contracts on buildings 3, 5, 6 and 10 at Wellington Place, Speedclad had established a proven track record for consistently delivering exceptionally high-quality products and services, and had a robust supply chain in place to be able to meet the challenges of the vast 7 & 8 scheme. Speedclad's design, supply and installation contract included; 5,400m2 of natural stone rainscreen cladding from Alsecco, including all parapet cladding, 18,000m2 of curtain walling from APA Façade Systems with glazing from Press Glass, including the glazing of 3 substantially impressive atriums and 600m2 of rooflights, external doors to roof and ground level including 4 automatic circle slide doors from Boon Edam, plus louvres, composite panel solutions and all associated items. Speedclad drew on the technical expertise and knowledge of its bid, design and project management teams and worked with skilled installers from DPS Facades to complete this staggering commercial development.
7 & 8 Wellington Place provides 378,000 sq.ft of Grade A office space for the new regional hub of HM Revenue & Customs. Scheduled to open in 2020, the 6,000 civil servants set to occupy 7 & 8 Wellington Place will be joining a thriving business community on one of the most prestigious city centre business quarters in Europe.
