Western Red Cedar Cladding

Western Red Cedar meets the latest environmental legislation. It offers sustainability, outstanding performance, design flexibility and is aesthetically pleasing.

Due  to Western Red Cedar’s excellent durability, stability and volume to weight ratio it is the most popular choice for untreated timber cladding.

Cedar offers insulation and acoustic benefits. It can be fitted on site when inclement weather would stop other walling systems.

When purchasing timber products, it is important to ensure compliance with FSC, PEFC or equivalent environmental scheme, together with a chain of custody certification which verifies that the timber is from a sustainable source. Converting this timber into products ensures that the carbon dioxide remains locked up in the material itself. The use of natural, sustainable timber helps developers specifically meet their green targets.

The majority of Western Red Cedar is grown in North America, Canada and subsequently imported to the UK.  However, Western Red Cedar has been grown in the UK for over one hundred years & mature trees are available for use in construction. As Northern American Cedar becomes increasingly expensive British Cedar is becoming more competitive and offers an environmental alternative to the impact of shipping American Cedar to the UK.
